What a wonderful world…

Hey, honey…hoping you’ve had a nice, relaxing weekend. Did you eat good, healthy food? I hope so. I’ve been laboring in the yard for 2 days and it has been tough in this merciless heat! Gosh…92 degrees today and over 100 (heat index – direct sun). Yikes! I’m working on my final list of things to complete so had to push through. I removed all the river sand between the blue stones (back yard) and had to repace it with granite rock. I had mentioned to you how much work this is – literally on your knees with knee pads in the scorching sun. All has to be done by hand for the best results. I finished the front yard walkway last week but had to tackle the backyard this weekend. Blessed to have gotten it all done and cleaned up. Looks great! ONE DAY CLOSER!! xo

These are my heirloom pumpkin plants. They returned from last year. The plants are so strong and healthy – the leaves are HUGE! Way bigger than my hand. Every blossom you see will become a pumpkin. I have white, gray/blue, traditional orange…AND multicolored gourds! I’m sad that I won’t see the pumpkins mature this fall but I’ll plant some at the farm if possible? We’ll see. MAYBE I’ll wait and you and I can plant a TON of pumpkins next year?! Can we plant pumpkins next year, Puppy? It’s SO FUN watching them grow and mature – then use them around the house to decorate for fall.

Well…are we pregnant? Lol. The doe returned today in the bright daylight! I went inside to cool off and have some gatorade and when I returned to the yard…there she was. She was in my neighbor, Denese’s, yard. She comes to eat the privet that’s growing there. Before the 13 large pines were cut off my yard last August, I had lots of mature privet trees/bushes. You’ve seen them in the wild on your property, I’m sure? They have small leaves and produce these tiny black berries. The berries are very firm (if not hard)…anyway, the deer LOVE to eat the leaves and berries. Apparently, they can smell them for a mile? As you will remember, she was living here on my lot last year (it was very wooded and lots of undergrowth…very bushy). She was hiding in there and had the baby fawn. Frankly, it still baffles me that it happened here but it certainly did. As I’d shared with you last year – the spiritual meaning of a fawn is “we’re pregnant”. I hope its true!! xo

Here’s the perfect song to share how I feel tonight. I saw bees, butterflies, squirrels (which I adore), chipmunks, neighbors cat and the deer today! These and had my hands in the dirt, sand, stones and rocks. Indeed, it’s a wonderful world. That’s the world we’ll share with each other and the boys. Do you remember the pic you shared several years back…you were standing in the little garden by the pool house? You said “Still green!” Of course, I knew what that meant…that something my hand had touched years before (and our love) was STILL GREEN. So sweet.

Get some rest and keep us close. You KNOW, right? Nite Nite…I love you, honey!! xo
