Hey, Puppy. Hope you’re having a nice day? Tummy full? Wish I could’ve made your lunch to include a pear and a big bowl of ice cold watermelon. Do you remember what I said (texted) you in late September 2014? It was my last day there with you. She was no where to be found, of course. I asked, “may I have the pleasure of making your sandwich once more?” As you know very well (12 years later)…I was being honest and sincere that day. Taking care of Puppy was so very special to me.
I found the long quote below yesterday and it reminded me so much of you and your life with her (and her’s). Seems caring for you in an intimate way was never her dream – only how you (and your power) have made her look and feel? Maybe I’m wrong but, from an outsiders perspective (a person that was privy to her every thought and secret action) – your welfare was never really on her mind…only what she felt entitled to?! Her primary question when thinking of you is/was, “what are YOU going to do for ME?” “You owe me.” Very sad. A normal, truly humble person who has enjoyed the enormous gifts (of every kind) that you’ve provided for 3 decades AND who loved you dearly would jump at that chance to take great care of you.
The absolutely wonderful experience of showing your love for another through little actions is everything. You have done so much in your life…accomplished more than 1000 men combined and yet, “make ME an egg sandwich!!” Read the quote below and consider every word. It’s you. You have poured so much into her and that group and seems you’re left to fend for yourself (at times). For sure, she’s ready to blame you for every unfortunate thing that has come her way…all while (somehow) not sincerely recognizing what you’ve done for her? You deserve so much more. It’s another working day here…guy here now pressure washing the driveway and 3 yards of river rocks are being delivered any minute (for the water swale). Enjoy the afternoon and keep me close.
